Param-Nesia is a 5 piece metal band hailing from Vancouver, BC. Their sound combines melodic death
metal, thrash and hints of prog to create music that takes you on a journey from beginning to end.
Param-Nesia, meaning; “distorted memory or inability to distinguish fact from fantasy” resonated well
with the visceral sound and stories of the music, weaving emotions and experiences together with
imagination and storytelling.
The band was originally formed in 2016 by lead guitarist Andy Cahalin and drummer Derek Hill. After
searching for members for what felt like an eternity they were joined by Jordan Buchta on guitar and
began solidifying material and the search for the final members required to push forward with the
project. Several months after this, and now 2017, Zac Baccardax on bass/vocals and Cayle Charlton
vocals both joined the band and the real work could begin.
Param-Nesia has toured through much of BC and Alberta, beginning their first show on the UFR Metal
Festival in Edmonton AB, and has been playing consistently since. They have shared the stage with
heavy hitters such as Protosequence, Black Water Burial, Without Mercy, Hallowed Catharsis, The Convalescence, Narcotic Wasteland along
with many others.
Param-Nesia released their debut EP “The Beginning” Feb 15, 2019 and did a first Headlining Tour booked July 2019 across BC & Alberta to promote the new release called “Journey To Nothing Tour”. Unfortunately due to conflicts with their respective careers, guitarist Jordan & bassist Zac had to make the difficult choice to step down in their roles in the band before departing on the Journey to Nothing Tour in July 2019.
Param-Nesia is thrilled to introduce the newest members, guitarist Matt Burnham & bassist Spencer Mcintosh.
Matt has extensive musical knowledge, talent, sound engineering education & experience. He & drummer Derek Hill have had a long history of performing and writing music together. The pieces seemed to all fit together & the musical chemistry was at an all time high, so it was unanimously agreed Matt was in.
Bassist Spencer Mcintosh was the final piece to the puzzle when he had reached out to fill in for the Tour. Spencer is known for his role as bassist in Truent, a locally based Metal band out of Vancouver formed in 2014 & who have been extensively performing since 2016. His explosive energy & stage presence made it hard not to offer Spencer a permanent position & pulling double duty. After some post tour discussions, Spencer had agreed to join & now the new journey for Param-Nesia can begin.
Param-Nesia is set to release their second EP in Spring 2020 with another extensive summer tour, this time across Canada.
They are all committed to their craft, striving to create music that is heavy, emotionally charged and
engaging. With a hard working ethic, Param-Nesia is actively seeking shows and tours to add to their
