Talons are an instrumental band, who formed in the city of Hereford in 2008. They signed to Big Scary Monsters in 2009, releasing their debut single, 'The Pearl' on 7” vinyl as well as a split single with And So I Watch You From Afar, featuring the song “Bethlehem”. Two further singles followed in 2010, “Anthropods” and “Trevelyan”, which were then both featured on anthology release “Commemorations”, consisting of all previous recordings and demos.

The band recorded their debut album, “Hollow Realm” in the summer of 2010, with Tom Woodhead (¡Forward Russia!) at the helm as producer. It was released in November 2010, with the CD released by Big Scary Monsters and 12' vinyl by Topshelf Records. A special extended CD edition of the album was also released by Xtal Records in Japan. It received critical acclaim, notably from Mike Diver for BBC Music, Drowned In Sound, Rock Sound magazine and The Line of Best Fit. Following the album release, the band recorded a Radio 1 Maida Vale session for Huw Stephens as well as embarking on an extensive touring schedule across the UK and mainland Europe in support of the record.

Four years later, Talons returned with their second album, “New Topographics”. The album was recorded in July 2013 with long-time collaborator Tom Woodhead at Greenmount Studios, Leeds. “New Topographics” reflected a change in mood and tempo from previous material, incorporating stronger neo-classical influences as well as bringing a more rhythmic and expansive sound. The album again received high praise in the press from DIY magazine, Clash and Drowned in Sound. The album was also ranked #2 best album of 2014 by Already Heard website. In promoting the album Talons made notable appearances at ArcTanGent, Truck Festival, Damnation Festival and Tramlines, as well as support slots with Pianos Become the Teeth and Amenra.

In 2015 Talons began work on their third album back in Hereford, which built on the tonal and rhythmic shifts of their previous album in order to further refine and develop their sound. The album was recorded in August 2017, again at Greenmount Studios Leeds, but this time with Lee Smith and Jamie Lockhart at the controls. The album is set for release in July 2018 with Holy Roar Records.
