The Shapers were so stoked when they were chosen as “best up and coming French band' winning a music competition in 2013. This resulted in their first North America tour where they had the chance to share the stage with punk rock legends NOFX and Pennywise. Actually, this group of skaters and their pop punk sound have been building a buzz outside of their country since they started touring in 2011, particularly in Southeast Asia.

The band started in 2009 when frontman Anthony Cauvin brought together two of his friends. Fueled by a mutual love of punk rock, they started to shape their unique and entertaining style combining modern pop punk to more old school influences. ‘At first we just had this sort of 2000’s post-punk revival thing in mind,’ recalls Anthony, ‘but we realized after some shows that we needed too add more punk energy to play a music that really corresponds to us’. The combination worked, and it gave The Shapers the unique edge that defines the band’s sound.

In 2012, following the release of their self-produced debut album Everybody Needs to Have a Dream, the band came back to Indonesia for a two-month tour to promote the new record. This tour was welcomed with massive support from local fans and media. Noted for their high-energy performance, The Shapers were even invited to play live on national TV and music fests like JakCloth headlined by Silverstein.

To support their new EP Reckless Youth, The Shapers have released this summer a single “Can’t Forget” accompanied by a music video directed by Mayol, the media director of Vans Europe & America, who has previously worked with famous bands like the Foo Fighters or Imagine Dragons. Excited as they were with the new sounds they were laying down, The Shapers never anticipated the enthusiasm which critics and fans alike found for their music. One month after releasing this first single, the group was playing with some of the biggest bands of Asia such as Superman Is Dead, Rocket Rockers, Pee Wee Gaskins, and even recorded a song with Endank Soekamti for their upcoming 7th album.

Although they couldn’t be happier than they are with their devoted fans in Indonesia, The Shapers really want to set their sites on other places. Following the release of Reckless Youth, the band is now planning to tour Europe. Actually, being out on the road touring and meeting new people is what they like best about playing together. Always performing to the max, they know how to bring fun and high energy into their shows, and they will keep moving on to catch their dreams. They really love to connect with their fans and other bands so don’t hesitate to interact with them via social media websites.
