Chump’ story starts in the late 90’s. Niko and Bruno, influenced by bands like Green Day, NOFX, Lagwagon, Bad Relgion, No Use For A Name, decided to create a band to be able to cover some of their favorite songs and also to try to play some of their own.
« Live At The Botanique » - 14 songs - has been recorded in January 2001 at the “Orangerie” room of the Botanique in Brussel (Belgium).
At the end of 2002, the band went to Average Records studio for their first non-live CD : « First Shit » - 5 songs -.
In 2003, the song « Sublimation » was recorded at Noise Farm Studio and was added to the compilation album « Blanc, Bleu, Belge ». This song is still an anthem against animal abuse.
This song was also on the next CD: « Survive ». Out in 2004, this 4 tracks CD was entirely recorded and produced by the band.
Chump hit the stage all over Belgium (Wallonie, Brussel & Vlaanderen) in the early 00’s. They have shared the stage with Belgian punkrock/rock bands like Hangin’ Out, Wash Out Test, Skaïra, Skarbone 14, State Of Nature, Nervous Chillin, DaFamilia, Flatcat, Hulk….
The band was involved in many events and gigs, from DYI scene to large festivals.
With this CD (Survive), the band has reach some large festival such as Nandrin Festival (Belgium) and share the stage with international bands such as Big D and the Kids Table (Boston, USA), Carving / Skip The Use (France), P.O.BOX (France) …
In 2005, Chump has recorded and produced a split CD with the band Dumbfound : « Chump VS Dumbfound ». Each band has recorded 5 songs. Chump split few months later. They wanted to be fully focused on their upcoming hard-rock project: On The Rocks.
11 years later, original members Niko and Bruno decided that the 90’s punkrock band has to come back to life and hit the stage again. Chump start to rehearse again in summer 2015. A new line up is poping up with Régis on the bass (ex-Dumbfound), and Antho on the drums. 90’s punkrock is still there and a lot of new songs are recorded.
On 2016 August 1st , a brand new EP “Ready To Strike” is released. They quickly come back on stage after the release playing with STRUNG OUT (USA), doing a Tour in France and hitting the punkrock Belgian scene. “ID Card” is also released on a Canadian VA “Ca Tire Vol 2.”.
Summer 2017, the band lineup is evolving again. Roman (bass) and Raf (drums) are now full time members of Chump.
