Hello 20 Year Short Break, thanks for your time. Could you please introduce your band to our readers?
We are two guys from Munich knowing each other for over 35 years. Rob is the singer. Dan is responsible for all guitars.
What’s the story behind your band’s name?
We met in middle school and played in a school band. Soon we started writing our own music and played in different constellations and bands. We stopped making music for almost 20 years when we were in our mid-20s. In 2019 we met at a rock concert and rediscovered our love for music. That’s when we decided to start making music again.
When we met again to make music after such a long time, it felt as if not a day had passed between today and the last rehearsal. It was only a short break of 20 years for us. That’s the reason why we gave ourselves the band name “20 Year Short Break”.
You revealed back in June 2022 your music video for “Heavy on my Soul”. How was the shooting of the video? Any funny stories to share with our readers?
The video shoot took place in a barn that we first had to clear with the help of tractors and shovels. A lot of dust and dirt flew around in the air. Time was also limited as we could only have the barn for a few hours. So, time was a factor. The result is still impressive from our point of view.
What’s the story behind the single?
Rob came up with the lyric’s idea. He felt a lot of weight on his shoulders at work – a lot of stress and responsibility.
Where do you usually find your overall inspiration?
Most of the time, inspiration comes from things we experience in our daily lives. That’s why lyrics are very personal and tell stories about us.
As a band, and music fans, what’s your favorite merch item and why?
The classics are the best: T-shirts.
