Hello Shambolic, thanks for taking time to answer a few questions for Distrolution. Could you please tell us who’s in your band and about how your band first formed?
Richard: We are Richard Heeley- vox / guitar. Pete Dukes – bass / vox. Matt Washington- drums. Jonathan Wakefield- guitar. Shambolic formed after we’d been in various bands moving in the same circles.
You guys formed back in 1995. You’ve been in the music industry for a really long time now. What’s the biggest change you’ve noticed in the music industry, compared to your beginnings as a band?
Richard: Getting music recorded and ‘out there’ is easier so there’s a lot of stuff to hear. Getting heard is still the same – it’s who you know or who you pay.
Matt: As with most things in our lives, the biggest changes have been the advances in technology. Particularly in publishing your music, which on the face of it is a good thing. As Richard says, the problem of getting yourselves heard above everybody else is probably the same as it ever was.
You now have a new album out, titled ‘World Torn Apart’. Could you please introduce this new release to our readers?
Richard: Shambolic have always had a strong link to 70s/80s punk and new wave. We live in pretty fucked up times and the new album draws on what we see, hear and live through every day. It’s pretty savage but things aren’t very pretty at the moment.
From all the songs on this album. Which one is your personal favorite track and why?
Richard: Well I identify with ‘Treason’ because it encapsulates a centuries old story we still haven’t left behind.
Jonathan: I like ‘Treason’. It smashes in at the start. No messing about.
Pete: ‘Collateral Damage’ as it’s sadly an old story that will keep being told.
Jonathan: Agree, Pete. Really old song but sadly still very relevant.
Matt: ‘Treason’. Great energy.
Apart from the release of this album, what else can we expect from Shambolic in 2018? A tour, maybe?
Richard: We’re currently working on what is possible from a ‘live’ perspective. Keep you posted!
Pete: We’re planning a few gigs later in the year with French bands Next To GodCIty and 13.x, which we’re looking forward to.
