A few weeks ago, Greg Rekus, the Canadian folk artist, announced his new tour, from March 1st till May 17th. Due to the crisis we are currently going through, the remaining tour dates are unfortunately cancelled.
Greg Rekus stated on his Facebook page: “Hey everyone, I’m pulling the plug on my tour today. I’m devastated to do this and tried to keep going dispute the current events but attendance at all shows has plummeted. It isn’t clear if and when travel bans are going to be imposed and I could potentially get stuck somewhere. If I do wait till a travel ban is announced I could get caught up in the panic of trying to get home and again possibly stranded for who knows how long. I tried to write everyone who set up the shows. However, if I missed someone and this is how you are finding out apologies for that.
Tim holehouse is going to try to salvage a few of the shows depending on what happens the coming days and weeks. So please be in touch with him if needed. I never like to wine about money as we are all getting hit hard by this. But if you had planned to get a copy of my new record anyways it would really help right now financially to weather this storm.
Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who had set up the shows or was going to play with us or planned on coming to see us. I 100% plan do this tour again next year and I hope I can make it up to everyone. Please stay safe out there and feel free to message me if you have any questions or concerns. I love you all and we will all get through this together!”
Many bands and artists are forced to cancel their tours. You can however support them by listening to their music on digital platforms and by buying it on platforms such as Itunes, Bandcamp… Let’s stay united!
