Mascot Label Group, the leading music company known for rock, blues and metal, is adding a funk label to its expanding umbrella.
The new imprint, The Funk Garage, will exist alongside other Mascot labels such as Mascot Records, Provogue etc. Funk pioneer Bootsy Collins will play a leading role in finding and shepherding projects for the new company.
“Funk music and especially funky guitars have been at the roots of my love for the instrument,” said Mascot CEO Ed Van Zijl. “The Funk Garage is a natural new kid in the family to me. To have the grandmaster of funk Bootsy Collins on our side is simply fantastic! Can’t wait to get started!!”
