UK metallers Bury the Traitor talk about their EP “Ascend To Clarity”!

Derby born metal core quintet BURY THE TRAITOR have recently revealed their EP “Ascend To Clarity”. Now, the band is here to give us more info about this release. Check out what they had to say below!

BURY THE TRAITOR

Hello, Bury the Traitor! Thanks for your time! Would you mind introducing your band to our readers?

Hi, we’re “Bury the Traitor” from Derbyshire UK and we play heavy metal. We’ve been together for just over three years and have gigged extensively across the country. We’ve just released the first single called “A.S.I.F.” off our new EP “Ascend to Clarity”. And if you like crushing breakdowns with catchy hooks and soaring choruses you’ll love this!

How would you describe the metalcore scene in the UK?

The metal scene in the UK is currently booming. There’s a lot of emerging talent coming from all over the country and bands like “Architects” and “While She Sleeps” are really breaking into the mainstream and making a name for themselves on the world stage. It’s actually quite daunting as a smaller metalcore band. But we’re more than ready to get into the arena with these bands and take on the world.

You recently unveiled your new EP ‘Ascend to Clarity’. Would you mind introducing this release to our readers?

Our new EP “Ascend to Clarity” is about overcoming personal struggles and gaining a new perspective on hardships that we’ve face individually. It’s about coming out of an adverse situation as a more well rounded person with a fresh outlook. There are also other themes including the psychological trauma of war. As well as the current state of our world and the path the human race is treading.

How did you approach the writing process for this EP?

When writing the EP, we decided the most affective method would be to individually write parts and then meet and combine the best sections. Once we had a composition, we set about writing lyrics for the EP. Each composition has its own character. The lyrics that we subsequently wrote were designed to reflect the mood that the composition conveys to the listener.

If you had to pick one song that you think best reflects the overall spirit of this release, which one would you pick and why?

“A.S.I.F.” is definitely the track that best sums up the new EP. It has everything a good metalcore anthem should have. It’s pacey, it’s heavy, it’s got a huge chorus. As soon as we’d finished writing it we knew that was going to be the lead single on the EP.

I’m a huge fan of the artwork of your EP, the details are amazing. Can you tell us more about it?

As a band we wanted to make sure the artwork for the new EP would give a visual representation of its sound. There are some fairly heavy hitting themes on Ascend To Clarity. Alarge portion of the EP focuses around overcoming personal hardships and psychological traumas. We knew the artwork had to represent these struggles, but also have an element of resolution and triumph over them. The ruined cityscape acts as a physical manifestation of the adversity depicted in Ascend To Clarity. And gives scale to the challenge one can face when staring down their inner demons. The EP name itself aims to acknowledge the immense strength it takes to rise above difficulty and come out stronger.

Would you mind sharing with us your upcoming projects for the rest of the year?

We have big plans for the rest of 2019. We’re currently planning some big shows and also another tour later in the year. The main goal we have for this year however, is to start the writing process of our debut album!

Thanks for your time!

About Valentine Klipfel

As a huge fan of pop-punk, easycore and punk-rock music since forever, I officially started my career in 2011 by offering press relations and social media services to underground bands and labels. In parallel, I also worked for other magazines and webzines, which allowed me to understand what a media wants to receive! I've finally created my own webzine in 2015. Since then, I've continued in this direction in order to help bands and labels develop their visibility and notoriety worldwide.
